Lecture
Last week, Mr Vinod began our class by giving us a brief introduction of our next task which is (The Booklet). Besides that, he gave us the general feedback for our work for the previous week and then moved on to presenting another lecture on type arrangement conventions. After the lecturer session we gathered around and shared our letter drafts from the previous week and got out feedback.
Instructions
In this task, you will write (type) a single page love letter to your beloved who has been abroad for the last 6 months. The year is 1986, the world wide web or internet isn’t yet available to the masses, however the desktop computer has been invented. Letters are still a popular means to send and receive news. As, such it has been your practice to write one letter a week on your new desktop computer, print it, seal it in an envelop and post it to your beloved. This single page letter must be written sensibly and sensitively.
Your task is to use Adobe Illustrator to format this letter in a classical letter writing format (in the days of old) – when letter writing was done by hand – using a suitable font (or a combination of fonts), and appropriate margins, alignment, point size, leading and line length.
You will be required to print two copies; one without creases or folds, the other for postage. The letter for posting will require an envelop, as such thought must be put into the writing of the address on the envelop. You will post this letter to yourself, and you will bring this letter to class for submission and discussion. You will as always document all the processes, drafts and the final results on your eportfolio.

My Final Work
The fonts that I have chosen to construct this very love letter is mainly using a serif font that shows an olden looking typeface known as Goodfish. I have also decided to use the font ChoppinScript to enhance the first word of the letter to give it an old story book look where the first letter is something cursive and stylish. I have also decided to use Goudy Old Style font to create a finishing for the poem within the love letter to give it an enhanced and outstanding look to the whole letter.
Reflection
Experience
Constructing the letter gave me insights towards the 80's feel where couples send countless love letters to each other through the years expecting to receive a letter back within weeks. Being affectionate is one thing, the patience to create a letter and sending whilst receiving is a task our ancestors are patient about.
While creating this letter, I realize our ancestors took all the time to construct a letter word by word in utmost precision and at the same time thoughtful. Whereas we of the modern generation only rely on instant messaging which can be done within our fingertips and a messaging device.
Findings
Through the classes, I noticed I am quite prone to sticking to my old progress and continuing it to perfection. I realize I needed a boost and tried to think out of the box in constructing my letter for this class. Thus, giving me the idea on making it better by putting a poem in a love letter.
